A warm welcome
Hello, I hope you’re well and thank you for taking the time to visit my website.
Who am I?
I’m Cameron Broome, a 21-year-old originally from West Yorkshire but living in South Manchester. I studied Geography at the University of Manchester before getting a job in content marketing, encompassing everything from PR and social media to e-mail and engaging articles.
Outside of work, I’m a big foodie (even if that word divides opinion – I love eating out and cooking basically) with a healthy interest in current affairs and sport.
About the website
My website and blog is a learning hub.
I use this website not only for my own self-development but I want others, like you, to be able to read it’s contents and come away having found out something useful, interesting and/ or new, regardless of what stage in your career you are at.
In short, my blog contains:
- Interviews with individuals working in different fields sharing insights about their careers and lives
- Reflective pieces written by myself related to my own career and life
- Accessible introductions to key concepts, theories and ideas related to my career and life (e.g. a beginners guide to content marketing)
I am developing an exciting ‘meet the professionals’ interview series. This will involve interviewing individuals working across different industries related to my own, who can share thoughts, experiences and insights about their lives and careers.
This is to provide an opportunity for us to learn from each other, and to facilitate collaboration and networking.
My blog also contains reflective pieces where I share lessons, thoughts and insights from my work and life. For example, following a work placement in a local newsroom, I wrote a blog post titled ‘three lessons I learnt from working at a local newspaper‘.
My aim here is to provide relatable food for thought, and lessons that can be applied to different scenarios.
In a nutshell articles
I also write accessible introductions to concepts, ideas and themes that I have come across through my work that are really important and interesting but aren’t always widely understood, or perhaps can seem intimidating or confusing at first. For example, I wrote a bite-sized introduction to content marketing. This was following the realisation that many people hadn’t heard of the concept before, despite almost all of us encountering content marketing in some form on a daily basis.
Learning never stops
I don’t want to come across as the fountain of all knowledge in any of my writing. My blog is in many ways a reflection of my own learning and self-development, though I want it to be useful for others, like you, too, as you continue to learn and develop.
I think one of the wonderful things about life is that you never quite know where it will take you. I look forward to sharing my journey with you through this website.
